About

The Jonathan Fisher House Archive

The Jonathan Fisher House in Blue Hill, Maine, is home to an extensive collection of materials related to the Rev. Jonathan Fisher, the first settled minister of Blue Hill. In addition to the house itself, our collection includes furniture, tools, artwork, and documents created by Fisher, household objects that belonged to the Fisher family, and other items relevant to the era, the Fisher family, and the history of the museum.

Only a small portion of our holdings are digitized to date. Fisher famously wrote many of his sermons, journals, and copies of his letters in a shorthand of his own invention, meaning that even items that have been scanned may not be legible to the casual researcher. If you are interested in assisting with our digitization and transcription projects, please contact us!
